The college name Shere Bangla was established by the people devotion to education and the utmost effort of common mass in the locality of Chitalmari in the memory of the greatest leader Shere Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haque. Since the college had been functioning its activities up to 1975 with reputation. The functioning of the college was suspended for a while due to economic and political crisis during 1974-1975. Again the college was re-established in 1984by Upazilla Parisad and the leading people of Chitalmari when the locality turns into Upazilla in 1983. Since then the college has been focused as one of the reputed institutions in the district of Bagerhat. In 1992 the institution was prompted as a degree college under the Rajshahi University. Along with general education the college activates the course of B.M section in 2002. Still today here is HSC, HSC (BM) under Jessore Board and Technical Education Board, Dhaka and B.A, B.S.S and B.B.S course under National University. Since very beginning achieving great success in the public exam the lions share of the students from this institution have been serving in their individual sectors for the betterment of the nation and the country.
