THE SHORT HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE Sharankhola thana, endowed with the memory of Hazrat khan JahanAli(R), Situated to the southeast part of Bagerhat district, washed by the Bay of Bengal, deprived of education, had no college up to 1977. So, to enlighten the people deprived of higher education with the light of higher education and turn them into human resource and take them to the peak of development Mr. Shamsul Alam Talukder, great freedom fighter , second-in-command, sector no- 09 realized the necessity of higher education deeply. He with some people of this locality devoted to education temporarily built a house made of Golpata named Sharankhola college in Rayenda Pilot High School in 1978 . He appointed a principal. four teachers and three employees there. Then in 1979, he built a house made of Golpata on 7.93 acre land in Rajoir village of 2 no. Khontakata union under Sharankhola Thana. Here the college started its journey of the session 1979 - 80 with commerce and humanities group. This college got recognition from Jessore Education Board on 1 July, 1979. In1991,it got the affiliation of inclusion of B.A and B.S.S by the Rajshahi University. From that time this college was named Sharankhola Degree College. At present, besides general section, H.S.C. (B.M) education is also added. There are about 50 teachers and employees here and the number of students is 1150. Receiving education from this institution, the students of this locality are contributing to the development of the country. So, the college has become a mile stone for the higher education of this area.
