To educate is to enlighten & only education can bring about a positive change in the women folk, the deprived & the lagging part of the society. It was a prevailing sense among the conscious & educated people of Habiganj . So they wanted to establish a womens' college in the locality. But during the Pakistani period it remained only a dream in absence of capacity. The dream of establishing a womens' college in the locality began to get hold in reality after the liberation of the country. In different meetings & seminars a strong claim for the establishment of a womens' college came from the reputed leaders & persons of thisarea. It was 18th April 1981. A temporary committee was formed & a place adjacent to Habiganj Girl's High School was selected for the propsed womens'college under the cordial effort & smart management of the then subdivisional officer Mr. Abdur Sattar . This man was also able to establish a fund of 75.000/00 taka for the college & there by secured a place of gratitude in the heart of the people of Habiganj. Later the first Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj, Mr.Shah Nazmul Alam & Mr. Hedayetul Islam chowdhury (ex-D.C) also took active steps in raising the college fund. In 1985 the college fund got 1 lac taka from Sylhet District Council. National Tea Company also donated 2 lac in the college fund with the assistance of Dr. Farash Uddin ex governor of the Bangladesh Bank.Mr. Ali Haider Khan ex Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong also assisted a lot to raise the college fund from the Local Development Board.
