A brief History of the college.
Hakimpur degree college is the first and only institution for higher education in Hakimpur Upozila area in Dinajpur district . The college was set up on July 1, 1984 under the direct and tireless effort and patronization of a large number of local enthusiasts headed by devoted , zealos and very hard working personality Mr. Aminur Rosul, the then UNO of Hakimpur. Though started as an intermediate college with science, Humanities and commerce Group, the college eventually emerged as a full-fledged Degree college with almost all degree (pass) courses such as BA/BSS/BBS/BSC and HSC (BM) courses. It also hosts Tutorial centre of HSC and BA/BSS programme of Bangladesh Open University.
The result of recent public examinations is much satisfactory. The percentage of successful candidates in HSC examination 2012 records to be 58.58 while that in degree pass examination 2010 and HSC BM) Examination 2012 is 87 respectively.
At present, the college has 42 competent teachers, 15 skilled office staff and a total number of students 568 in HSC course ,404 in degree level and 180 in HSC (BM) section.
The college is run by an active governing body having MR. AZIZUl HAQUE CHOUDHURY, the honorable M.P. Dinajpur 6 in the chair, Upozila Chairman as Donar member and Upozila Vice Chairman as the patron member of the body.
Since its establishment the college has been continuing educational activities with credit and reputation. Local civilians believe that the college will progress fast if government comes forward with aids and grants to accelerate its academic as well as infra structural development.
