Boalkhali Sirajul Islam Degree college was established in 1970 by the ceaseless efforts of the patronizers of education it was set up in the central area of the then Boalkhali thana. The students of this college have been appearing in the HSC Examination since 1976. Alhaj Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, a renowned industrialist and patronizer to education, got entangled with this college being requested by the education loving people of this area and this college was named after him. He built a three storied building named Aktharul Islam Science Building by spending a lot of money and much labour. In the session 1984-1985 this college was affiliated by the University of Chittagong. In the session was affiliated by the University of Chittagong. In the session 1998-1999 this college got permission to open the HSC (Business Management) course under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. This college has archived a remarkable reputation in case of spreading education and culture in south Chittagong since its establishment.
