Kishoreganj Govt. Mohila College was established by some local patrons as girls had no scope of receiving higher education. At the very beginning and afterwards the affort of the local administration is worth mentioning. The first president of the college was Mr. Rafiul Karim, SDO, Kishoreganj and the first secretary was Mr. Ayub Ali, the then first Class Magistrate. Mr. Mohammad Oasimuddin was the first acting principal of the college. At the first stage most of the teachers of Gurudayal Govt. College, Kishoreganj worked as part time teachers in the institution. At the beginning classes were held at the Adarsha Shishu Biddhalay. In 1972 five acres of khas land was taken as lease from the government for 99 years and the college was shifted to that place from Adarsha Shishu Biddhalay the same year. The foundation stone of the Arts Building was laid by late Syeed Nazrul Islam, the then industry minister, on 3 December 1972.
